Readmission After Surgical Resection and Transplantation for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer mortality requiring complex surgeries with high rates of readmission. This study utilizes the National Cancer Database (NCDB) to investigate the association between readmission rates in patients with HCC and mortality rates after undergoing either liver transplantations or resections. They demonstrate 30-day readmission rates to be associated with higher 90-day mortality but not 30-day mortality.
