Mazen S. Zenati, MD, PhD

Dr. Mazen Zenati MD, MPH, PhD is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Epidemiology, with an additional appointment in Graduate School of Public health at University of Pittsburgh. He has comprehensive expertise in epidemiological and outcome research, with advanced training in clinical trial design, particularly in the realms of trauma and surgery. His research focuses on public health and advancing the field of surgery using state of the art advancements in research methodology and data analysis. He was a methodologist and biostatistician for several clinical trials: the PAMPer and STAAMP Trials of prehospital trauma care, the Octaplex trial of factor replacement therapy for coagulopathy, the Glue grant consortium to characterize the inflammation of trauma, and a nutritional trial of Citrulline. He provides full statistical support throughout the Department of Surgery and assists in the design and conduct of prospective and retrospective studies. He is currently a member of the executive committee of MACRO evaluating the feasibility and management of large clinical studies taking place in University of Pittsburgh.
