Title: "Chemical Engineering approaches to accelerating post-operative fascial healing"

Incisional hernias are a significant issue after laparotomies affecting approximately 10-20% of patients who undergo emergent open abdominal procedures. Our lab has setup a mouse model of laparotomies and fascial tensile testing to develop potential prophylactic chemical therapies. In this update, I'll be discussing a range of medications and recombinant protein therapies that have been tested in our mouse model. Furthermore, I will be discussing our development of sustained release strategies for optimal local delivery of these medications.
