Dr. Jennifer Holder-Murray is an assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery. Her research focuses upon the clinical outcomes of patients with inflammatory bowel disease and rectal cancer. She has utilized the NSQIP database to analyze outcomes after colorectal surgery, including developing a novel predictive model for readmissions in patients undergoing surgery for an ileostomy.  She is the site primary investigator for a neoadjuvant rectal cancer trial examining the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy instead of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radiation therapy prior to surgery for rectal cancer. Additional interests include determining associations between perioperative alterations in the microbiome and the risk of postoperative complications.
